THOMAS K. PURCELL (1947 - 2004)

Mr. Purcell was a co-founder of our Firm whose shared vision for a different kind of law firm inspired everyone around him. Mr. Purcell received his B.A. with Honors from the American University School of International Service in 1968 and his J.D. with honors from the Marshall Whythe School of Law, College of William and Mary in 1973. He served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the College of William and Mary Law School Foundation and the Board of Director's of St. Vincent's Hospital. Prior to private practice, Mr. Purcell was employed with Office of District Counsel for the Internal Revenue Service. He was a member of the Florida, Virginia and Georgia Bars, and a member of the Jacksonville Bar Association. Social and civic affiliations included the Riverside-Avondale Preservation Association, the Florida Historic Trust Preservation, Clan Donald, and the Jacksonville Historic Landmark Commissions.


TIMOTHY L. FLANAGAN, a co-founder of the Firm, received a B.S. in Accounting from Florida Southern College in 1978. He received his J.D. from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 1981 and a LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida in 1983. Mr. Flanagan served as Trust Counsel for Florida National Bank, acting as in-house counsel for its statewide Trust and Investment Division.

Mr. Flanagan is a frequent lecturer and he has published articles on taxation and estate planning in national periodicals and tax services. Mr. Flanagan is a Florida Bar Board Certified Tax Lawyer, serves on several committees of the Real Property Probate and Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar, as well as a member of its Executive Council. He is a Fellow of the American College of Estate and Trust Counsel.

Mr. Flanagan's expertise lies in the area of estate planning and administration, including income, estate, gift and generation skipping transfer tax, probate, fiduciary law and other estate and trust matters, focusing upon estates of significant size and complexity. He also represents and advises clients with closely-held businesses on corporate matters, business successions and related estate and tax planning issues.


JONATHAN L. HAY,
a co-founder of the Firm, practice focuses on the areas of estate planning, estate and trust administration, and advising owners of privately held businesses. The fact that he holds an advanced law degree (LL.M.) in taxation and is licensed as a certified public accountant in the State of Florida has significantly enhanced his ability to concentrate his practice in these areas.

Mr. Hay's experience has provided him with significant insight into his practice areas. He has been a tax manager for the international accounting firm KPMG Peat Marwick, and he was a member of the tax department at one of Jacksonville's oldest and largest law firms.

Mr. Hay received his B.S. degree in Business Administration, cum laude, from the College of Charleston in 1979, his J.D. degree from the University of South Carolina in 1983, and his LL.M. degree in taxation from the University of Florida in 1984. Mr. Hay is a member of both the Florida Bar and the South Carolina Bar and is admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court. He is a member of the Real Property, Probate & Trust Law, Tax, and Health Law sections of the Florida Bar and is a member of the Jacksonville Bar Association. Mr. Hay is on the executive committee of the Estate Planning Council of Northeast Florida, and he is a member of the American Association of Attorney-Certified Public Accountants and the Northeast Florida Planned Giving Council. Mr. Hay served on the Board of Directors of Cerebral Palsy of Northeast Florida from 1993-1999, and he is a past President of a supporting organization of the Jacksonville Symphony.


CHRISTOPHER J. GREENE was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1985, and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court, Middle and Southern Districts of Florida. He received his B.A. degree in Economics from Stetson University in 1981 and his law degree with honors from the University of Miami in 1985, where he was an Associate Editor of the Law Review. Mr. Greene practices in the area of complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts, including shareholder and partnership disputes, franchisor/franchisee disputes and matters involving trusts, estates and probate.
 
In his community, Mr. Greene is a 1995 graduate of Leadership Jacksonville and serves on the Board of Directors of Communities in Schools. He has previously served on the Board of Directors of the Jacksonville Urban League and the Board of Directors of the YMCA at the Bank of America Tower.
 
Mr. Greene’s practice is in complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts, shareholder and partnership disputes, and estate and trust litigation.


JOHN I. FISHBURNE, III received his B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1984. He received his J.D. degree from Southern Methodist University in 1987 and an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida in 1992. Mr. Fishburne served as a briefing attorney for the Texas Court of Appeals, First Supreme Judicial District from 1987 until 1988. Mr. Fishburne practiced with the law firm of Jenkens & Gilchrist, P.C. in Houston, Texas from 1988 until 1991 and with the law firm of Brant, Moore, Macdonald & Wells, P.A. in Jacksonville, Florida from 1992 until 1997.

Mr. Fishburne is an adjunct professor at Florida Coastal School of Law and the lead instructor for the Becker CPA Review Course in Jacksonville, Florida, where he teaches law and general taxation. Mr. Fishburne currently serves on the Board of Directors for Cerebral Palsy of Northeast Florida. Mr. Fishburne is a member of the Oklahoma, Texas and Florida Bars. He is also a member of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar and is a current member of the Board of Directors of Cerebral Palsy of Northeast Florida.

Mr. Fishburne concentrates his practice in the areas of estate planning, including income, estate, gift and generation skipping transfer tax, probate, guardianship, trust administration, and corporate law.


LINDA R. WICKER received her B.A., cum laude, from Boston University's College of Liberal Arts in 1988, then received her J.D. degree, cum laude, from Suffolk University Law School in 1993. Ms. Wicker served as an associate with the Boston law firm of Burns & Levinson, LLP from 1993 until 1995, practicing in the area of civil litigation. From 1996 through 2000, she performed trust administration and estate settlement services for First Union National Bank's Capital Management Group and Merrill Lynch Trust Company's Estate/Trust Settlement Group.

Ms. Wicker is a member of both the Florida Bar and the Massachusetts Bar. She is a member of the Florida Bar's Real Property, Probate and Trust Law section and is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Northeast Florida. She has served as Guardian Ad Litem, Fourth Judicial Circuit in the State of Florida. Ms. Wicker currently serves on the Board of Directors for the American Cancer Society and on the Board of Directors for Elizabeth Edgar Hall, Inc.

Ms. Wicker concentrates her practice in the areas of estate planning, including income, estate, gift and generation skipping, transfer tax, probate, guardianship, trust administration, fiduciary, and business law.


THOMAS D. POINTNER concentrates his practice in the areas of formation and ongoing representation of privately-held businesses and not-for-profit organizations, estate planning, and real estate matters, which have been the focus of his practice for more than 30 years. He is admitted to practice in both Florida and Michigan.

Mr. Pointner has been engaged in private practice since graduating from law school, including service as a partner in a large Michigan firm and as President of his own firm in Michigan since 1978. He has maintained active practices in both Michigan and Florida since relocating to Jacksonville in 2001. His extensive and diverse experience in his practice areas provides him with practical insights and effectiveness in assessing and addressing client needs and goals.

Mr. Pointner received a B. A. degree in Philosophy from the University of Michigan in 1967 and a J. D. degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1970. He served as a Legal Writing Instructor and as Editor of the Wisconsin Student Bar Journal while attending law school. He is a member of the Business, Real Property, Probate and Trust, and Labor and Employment Law sections of the Florida Bar, a member of the Business, Probate and Estate Planning, and Real Property Law sections of the Michigan Bar, and a member of the Business, Probate and Trust, and Real Property Law sections of the American Bar Association. He is a Fellow of the American and Michigan Bar Foundations, a member and past President of the Estate Planning Council of Northern Michigan, a Trustee and past Chairman of the Little Traverse Conservancy, a member and past President of the Emmet-Charlevoix (Michigan) Bar Association, a member of the Jacksonville Bar Association, and a member of the Jacksonville Beaches Bar Association.


ROBERT H. TRUDEAU,
born Medford Lakes, New Jersey, May 21, 1976; admitted to bar, 2004, Florida. Education: Clemson University, B.A., 1999; University of South Carolina, J.D., cum laude, 2004; University of Florida, LL.M., 2005. Order of the Coif. Order of the Wig and Robe. Graduate Tax Scholar. Practice Areas: Taxation; Estate Planning.


BRIAN J. HERSHORIN (Miami, Florida; August 15, 1979) received his B.A. in Business Administration from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, with a concentration in mathematics and marketing in 2001. He received his J.D. and M.B.A. from Stetson University College of Law in 2004 and his LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida in 2005. Mr. Hershorin is a member of the Florida Bar.
 
Mr. Hershorin currently serves on the Board of Directors of the North Florida Land Trust, Inc., and is a frequent lecturer on the topic of Conservation Easements. He focuses his practice in the areas of estate planning and administration, including income, estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax. He also represents and advises clients with regard to matters pertaining to closely-held businesses, including entity selection, business succession planning, and related estate and tax planning issues.

OF COUNSEL:

CLARENCE F. FRAZIER
spent over 11 years with the District Counsel's Office, Internal Revenue Service, in the Miami, Atlanta and Jacksonville Offices. During the first seven years he was a staff attorney representing the IRS in the Tax Court and state and federal courts, along with providing legal advice to the audit and collection divisions. In 1978 he was appointed the Assistant District Counsel, Jacksonville Office, and supervised up to 10 attorneys in all aspects of legal representation of the IRS including criminal tax matters.

Since leaving the District Counsel's Office he has been in private practice with his major areas of concentration being federal and state tax controversies and small business corporations and other entities.

Mr. Frazier is admitted to practice in Florida, the United States Tax Court and the United States Court of Federal Claims. He received a B.S. in Business Administration and his J.D. from the University of Nebraska.
